So, our fabulous romantic bedroom is starting to take shape.

We’ve got an alluring colour scheme, some great fabrics and bed linens and of course a glamorous metal beds to really set the mood.

And just a thought before we move on, because, as a close relation to those brass beds and iron beds designs, the four poster bed is surely about as romantic a piece of furniture as we are ever likely to stumble across?

Deeply entrenched in British history, it conjures images of vintage opulence and noble privilege, which must surely make it worthy of consideration for the basis of the most sensual of room settings?

Early originals command huge prices these days, but latterday reproductions capture the spirit and essence of these beguiling creations in true Victorian spirit, without the downside of a certain creakiness and often quirky proportions that might have characterised those 19^th century ancestors!

For those with the space and imagination there are antique brass and traditional metal four poster beds designs to really evoke a flavour of romance. And all that is required now are a few finishing touches to complete the romantic mood.

The guys out there might have a slightly different take on romance, but for the ladies romance is mostly about feeling pampered. Beautiful surroundings awaken feelings of pleasure and nothing shouts luxury like fine art and the richer looking, the better. Stick with your colour palette and theme and choose fine oils on canvass. Accentuate with gorgeous frames and brass picture lights for an evocative look that is decadent and inviting.

In fact lighting in the romantic bedroom deserves special attention, and whilst overhead chandeliers might look great, it’s the mood lighting that is really going to set the scene. So dimmed bedside lights, crystal wall lights and gentle uplighters, all have a part to play. Heavy tasselled shades in crimson or royal blue would look fabulous and of course the timeless appeal of candelabra and simple candlelight should never be overlooked.

Should you be lucky enough to have an old fireplace and mantelpiece in the bedroom, then so much the better. The perfect resting place for either!

The master bedroom is the ideal place to get away from the rigours of the day. In essence, a little private sanctuary where it’s possible to reconnect with your innermost thoughts and your partner. A new romantic makeover for this most special place, might just add some sensual verve for nights of spice and more than just a little intrigue….?
